Another interesting desert mammal is the Arabian Oryx. These cow-like

creatures have a bright white coat and long pointed horns for protection.

They live in large herds and travel over very long distances for rain and food.

Arabian Oryx

The Arabian Oryx can go several weeks without water and can detect rain to find fresh food. The horns can grow to be 30 inches long! Can you guess what they might use their horns for?

The African Oryx lives in Africa and has a tan coat, not white like the

Arabian Oryx.
