Another animal that lives up in the high altitude is the marmot. Marmots look a little bit like groundhogs.

Marmots live in burrows and

hibernate through the winter like a

bear. They are very social critters and communicate with each other using whistles.

Yellow-bellied marmots are common in the Rocky Mountains and in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This picture was taken at the top of Mount Dana, Yosemite, CA, USA.
